christine tawfik
Christine is a New York-based comedy writer and performer. She is an alum of the legendary Second City Mainstage and has studied improv and writing at iO and The Annoyance.
Born in Egypt, Christine moved to the United States at age 11 where she immediately developed an interest in comedy as a way of learning the cultural nuances of a new language (thank you closed captioning and The Simpsons).
She began improvising in high school and continued through college, where she studied Journalism and Political Science in the lofty hopes of one day becoming “the next Christiane Amanpour - but like, funny.”
Immediately following graduation, she moved to Chicago to further pursue comedy. She eventually became a member of the Second City National Touring Company where she performed at the English Theatre of Vienna and later wrote and performed in the critically acclaimed Mainstage revue “Panic on Cloud 9”. In addition to teaching improv and sketch, she was a regular perfomer at iO and The Annoyance and her solo work has been featured at the Just For Laughs Festival.
As an actor, Christine booked a series regular role in the FOX pilot Chad: An American Boy. She's been featured on ABC’s Betrayal, Chicago Fire, and most recently opposite James Spader on The Blacklist. Her true passion is jokes and the science of what makes things funny; also cheese and shows about murder.
