Omer Ben-Shachar is a writer/director whose work has been supported by the Academy, BAFTA, Warners Bros., Paramount, Film Independent, and the American Film Institute. Omer’s short film, ’Tree #3’ won a Student Academy Award, Urbanworld’s Best Young Creator Award, Palm Spring’s Audience Award, was nominated for a Student Emmy and screened at over 100 festivals around the world including Hamptons, Bentonville, and many more. His latest short, ’Down Here’, was a Webby Award Winner, a Vimeo Staff Pick, and was nominated for a Cannes Lions Young Directors Award. Most recently, Omer was named as a participant of the 2024 Film Independent Screenwriting Lab. He previously participated in the Warner Bros. TV Directors’ Workshop, Paramount’s Viewfinder Directors Program, and Film Independent’s Project Involve, where he was awarded the Cayton-Goldrich Family Foundation Fellowship. Omer is a graduate of the AFI Conservatory, where he received the Richard P. Rogers Spirit of Excellence Award for Directing. Beyond his narrative work, Omer has directed music videos featured on Rolling Stone, Billboard, Directors’ Library, Nowness and at the Hammer Museum; as well as commercials for clients such as as Microsoft, Bayer and Amdocs.Omer is a member of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS) as well as a BAFTA North America Newcomer. In 2020, he was named to Forbes Israel’s 30 Under 30 list.
