OMER ben shachar
Omer Ben-Shachar is a Los Angeles based director and writer born and raised in Tel-Aviv. His latest film ‘TREE #3’ won a Student Academy Award, UrbanWorld's ‘Best Young Creator Award’, Palm Springs ShortFest's ‘Audience Award’, HollyShorts' ‘Best Student Film Award’ and was nominated for the Television Academy’s College Television Award, among others. Omer’s short films have screened at over 60 film festivals around the world including the Hamptons International Film Festival, Bentonville Film Festival, CAA’s Moebius Film Festival, Show Me Shorts New Zealand, and the Chicago International Children's Film Festival. Omer is a graduate of the American Film Institute Conservatory, and received the Richard P. Rogers Spirit of Excellence Award for Directing, presented by AFI Fest. Omer was a participant of the 2020 Warner Bros. (WBTV) Directors’ Workshop, the 2019-20 ViacomCBS’s ViewFinder Emerging Directors Program (for the Nickelodeon network), and the BAFTA LA Newcomers Program. In 2020, he was named to Forbes Israel’s 30 Under 30 list. Omer’s perspective as an LGBTQ filmmaker drives his desire to tell honest, character-driven stories centered around the search for identity: stories that find the comedy in our insecurities and fears of being outsiders, and that ultimately celebrate the joy of individuality.
